- What is private duty home care?
Private duty home care agencies are companies that provide home care aides, companion care, homemaker services, and may provide nursing services in the client's home or place of residence.
- Who pays for private duty home care?
There are multiple ways to pay for private duty home care. The most common methods for covering the cost of private duty home care are long term care insurance benefits or out of pocket. We are happy to work with your insurance company to discuss your benefit plan and thus provide information to you and your family so that you can make an informed decision on your care needs. We will also assist you by billing the insurance company directly.
- Are your services available for the elderly in nursing homes or assisted living facilities?
- How do I get started?
It's easy! Find a location near you by reviewing the list of locations here on the website, or calling toll free 800.733.8427. Once the basic information is received we can arrange a time to schedule a complimentary assessment to determine next steps.
- How do you select your caregivers?
Complete a thorough reference check, perform a criminal background check, administer a competency exam, and conduct a personal individual interview. Everyone that works with us, from home health aides to nurses, is bonded and insured.
Every one of our caregivers has home care experience. We match caregivers to you and your family based on your care needs.
- What happens if my caregiver is sick?
It's not a problem. We orient multiple employees who can meet your care needs. If one home health aide, nurse, or caregiver is sick, another is normally available.
- Who pays the caregiver - me or you?
Arcadia is the employer. We handle the payroll, taxes, insurance and administrative responsibilities.
- Can I change the schedule if I have outside appointments or if I am going on vacation?
- How do I select a home health provider?
As in selecting any healthcare provider, patients and families should ask questions and make an informed selection based on their specific care needs. Some of these questions are:
- How long has the provider been serving the community?
- Are employees background checked and insured?
- Does the provider include the patient and his or her family members in developing a plan of care? Are they involved in making care plan changes?
- What procedures does this provider have in place to handle emergencies?
- Are its caregivers available 24 hours a day, seven days a week?
- How does this provider ensure patient confidentiality?
- Is the patient's course of treatment documented?
